Fallen Angel is the first in a series of conceptually driven dynamic abstract oil paintings that explore, through paint, the problem of despair and the prevalence of hope. Strong, emphatic line work, using deep indigo or black ink, sets the “bones”, or skeleton, of each painting. Next, vivid colour is overlaid, consciously preserving the element of negative space, thereby strengthening and focusing the central form.
